How to create an assignment

This manual will guide you through creating and managing assignments in Solidroad, including defining details, assigning tasks, adding content, and configuring settings like due dates, passing scores, and certification to optimize the learning experience.

User manual definition of terms:

Advanced Settings: These are extra options for customising assignments, like setting attempt limits, time limits, and auto-ending simulations.

Save as Draft: This option saves the assignment without making it available to learners so you can make changes later.

Save and Schedule: Saves the assignment and sets a future start date for it to be available to learners.

Save and Set Live: Saves the assignment and immediately sends it to learners.

Handling Time: The amount of time given to complete a simulation in an assignment, measured in minutes.

Certification: A certificate given to learners after completing an assignment or simulation.

Users: Individuals who are assigned tasks or roles within the training platform. Users can be learners or trainers within the simulation.

Assignments: Simulations are given to learners to complete as part of their training and are used to assess understanding and progress.

Follow the steps below to create an assignment:

  1. Log in to your admin account, click the 'Training' tab, and select the 'Assignments' tab.

2. On the Assignments page, you will see a list of created assignments. You also have the option to create folders for assignments and add new ones.

3. To create an assignment, click the 'Create' tab in the upper right corner of the screen, and you will be directed to the assignment creation page.

i. Assignment name – Enter the name of your assignment.

ii. Due Date – You can set a due date for the assignment. Click the calendar icon to open the calendar, and from there, you can select the desired date.

iii. Add instructions for learners – This feature allows you to add notes with specific instructions, additional context, or guidance to help learners better understand the task.

vi. Assign to users and groups – This section has three features:

a. Users – You can add your members' names in the box here. You can either type their names or select them from the pop-up options.

b. Groups – To add groups, click the 'Add Group' tab and select the group names from the pop-up options.

c. Learning content – Click the 'Add Simulation' tab to use this feature. A pop-up box will appear, allowing you to choose more than one simulation for your assignment. Once you have selected the simulations, click the 'Add' tab.

v. Certify learners – To use this section, slide the bar to the right next to 'Certify Learners.' Once activated, an electronic certificate will appear. The 'Add Signatory' field allows you to enter the certifier's name, which will appear in the certificate's 'Approver Name' section. The system will issue this electronic certificate to the learner once they have completed the assessment and met the passing score.

vi. Advance setting—This feature allows you to set an assignment's start date, attempt limit, passing score, and handling time. The automatic simulation ends when the handling time is reached.

a. Start date – Click the calendar icon to select a date from the pop-up calendar. The date should be in the future to ensure the assignment is open and learners are notified.

b. Attempt limit – This will set a specific number of attempts to complete the assignment. You can leave the box empty for unlimited attempts.

c. Passing score - This is where you set the passing score for the assignment.

d. Handling time – This is where you set the handling time, in minutes, for each simulation included in the assignment.

e. Automatically end the simulation when the handling time is reached – Automatically end the simulation when the handling time is reached' to activate this feature. Once it ends, the system will record where the last conversation stopped and rate the simulation from when it ended.

vi. Once you have set the features for your assignment, you have three options: save it as a draft, save and schedule, or save and set it live.

a. Save as draft - Once you click this tab, your assignment will be saved as a draft and redirected to the list of created assignments.

b. Save and Schedule – This feature will appear as an option if you set a future date for the start of the assessment. Once saved, the assignment you created will be displayed in the list of assignments.

c. Save and set live—This option will appear if you put the start date to the date you created the assignment. Once you click 'Save and Set Live,' the assignment will be displayed in the list on the Assignments page and sent directly to the learner(s).

4. All the saved assignments, whether drafts, scheduled, or in progress, can be edited, duplicated, deleted, or have an invite link copied at any time. To do this, click on the assignment from the Assignments page, and you will be directed to the assignment's detail page.
