An invitation link has expired or stopped working
Last updated: September 18, 2026
Invitations do not stay valid forever. If someone you invited clicks the link in their email and still cannot get in, the invitation has usually run out, and the fix is to send them a fresh one. This covers how to tell that is what happened and what to do about it.
Symptoms
Someone you invited says the link in their invitation email does nothing, or takes them to a sign-in page that will not let them through.
They are not in the Users tab, because they never accepted, and they are no longer in the Invitations tab either.
They tried going to solidroad.com and signing in directly instead, and were blocked. That happens to anyone who has not accepted an invitation yet, so it is not a sign that something is broken.
Why it happens
An invitation is a single-use link with a limited life. Once that time has passed the link stops working, whether or not anyone ever opened it. Nothing is wrong with the person's account and they are not blocked from Solidroad in future, the link itself is no longer valid.
An invitation lasts about a week. Solidroad does not set that limit itself, it comes from the service that handles sign-in, so it is not something that can be changed for one workspace. If you are inviting a group of people ahead of a training launch, send the invitations close to the date they will actually start rather than weeks in advance.
The Invitations tab lists invitations that are still waiting to be accepted, so an expired one drops off it. Someone missing from both Users and Invitations has usually had an invitation that ran out, rather than never having been invited at all.
How to fix it
Go to Settings > Users and check the Users tab, in case they accepted and simply cannot find their way back in.
Open the Invitations tab and look for their email address.
If they are not there, invite them again from scratch, using the same email address. There is nothing left to resend.
Ask them to use the newest email, since any earlier link stays dead. Once they click Accept Invitation they move to the Users tab and can sign in normally.
If they are still listed under Invitations, the invitation has not run out yet. Someone who has lost the email can be sent it again, or you can copy the link from the Invite Link column and pass it to them another way.
Sending an invitation is covered in How to invite and add new users.
If that doesn't work
Check the email address on the invitation first, since a typo produces exactly the same symptom as an expired link and is more common than you would expect.
If the address is right, the email may not be reaching them. Invitations are sometimes held by company mail filters rather than landing in a junk folder the person can check themselves, so it is worth asking their IT team whether anything from Solidroad is being blocked.
If your workspace uses single sign-on, people on a verified domain do not use invitations at all. They are added through your identity provider and sign in that way, which is covered in How to set up SSO & SCIM.
