Unblock your camera/microphone on mobile (Android and iOS)

Last updated: September 14, 2026

If you open a voice or video simulation on an Android phone, iPhone or iPad and Solidroad cannot use your camera or microphone, the browser or the device has blocked access. This article shows you where to allow it again in Chrome on Android, and in Chrome and Safari on iOS. If you are on a laptop or desktop, see Unblocking audio/video permissions on web (general) instead.

Symptoms

  • The simulation opens, but you are not asked to allow the microphone or camera, or you tapped Don’t allow earlier.

  • The simulation starts, but the persona cannot hear you or your video does not show.

Why it happens

Mobile browsers remember a decision to block a site. On iOS, Apple also requires each app (Chrome or Safari) to have camera and microphone access at the device level, and the browser then asks you again for each simulation. If either level is set to block, the simulation cannot use your camera or microphone.

iOS Chrome and Safari

Chrome and Safari on iOS ask for camera and microphone access for each simulation. This is a privacy setting imposed by Apple.

  1. Refresh the browser tab with the simulation open.

  2. When the microphone and camera prompt appears, tap Allow.

If no prompt appears, or access is still blocked, check the device-level setting:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Chrome or Safari, whichever you are using, then Camera.

  3. Confirm that Ask or Allow is selected.

  4. Go back and do the same under Microphone.

  5. Return to the simulation, refresh the tab and tap Allow when prompted.

If that doesn’t work

Fully close the browser app and reopen the simulation. If simulations fail only on your company network or Wi-Fi, the problem may be the network rather than permissions. See Network allowlist guide.
